Data deletion: How to request deletion of your data
SyncPoint helps you record coincidences, notice patterns, and reflect on your experiences. This policy explains how SyncPoint and its developer ("we," "us," or "our") handle information when you use the Android app or contact us.
1. Information stored on your device
SyncPoint stores your journal in the app's private storage on your device. Depending on what you enter, this includes:
- Trigger and Matching text, Description, event types, dates, times, and time gaps.
- Tags, people, locations, Witness information, and significance ratings.
- Your optional profile display name, preferences, and cloud-analysis choice.
- Saved insights, analysis results, reports, and information used to manage those records.
We use this information to save and display your entries, personalize the app, and calculate local statistics and insights. You do not need a SyncPoint account. Your profile is a local preference, not an online account.
SyncPoint does not provide automatic cloud journal backup or synchronization. Android app backup and device-transfer backup are disabled in the app's configuration. Cloud analysis, described below, sends selected information for processing; it is not a way to restore your journal.
The app does not request access to your contacts, GPS location, camera, or microphone. People and locations recorded in your journal are information you choose to enter.
2. Optional cloud analysis
Cloud analysis is off until you choose Use cloud analysis. You can choose Keep on device and continue journaling and using local insights.
When enabled, SyncPoint automatically sends eligible journal content to Google's Gemini service through Firebase AI Logic to interpret text, identify related themes, and produce insights. This can include processing existing or edited entries. You are not asked to approve each individual request.
Information sent for entry analysis
A request may include:
- The full Trigger and Matching text of the entry being analyzed.
- Event-type categories, time-gap category, an exact custom time-gap duration when recorded, a general source category, and tags.
- A limited portion of the Description, within a context limit of 480 characters. Context can also indicate that a location was recorded, without including the location itself.
- Up to 12 related entries selected on your device. These contain shortened Trigger and Matching text, up to 240 characters each, a general source category, existing theme labels, and internal entry identifiers used to match relationships.
Data Spotlight separately sends one selected entry's Trigger and Matching text, type and timing categories, general source, tags, limited Description, existing structured analysis, and locally calculated metrics. Its request does not contain entry identifiers.
Requests contain selected entries rather than a full journal export. However, while cloud analysis is enabled, multiple requests can process different entries over time.
Information excluded from these requests
Dedicated location values, people fields, custom Witness text, significance ratings, profile details, and entry creation or modification timestamps are excluded from these cloud-analysis payloads.
Text is not automatically anonymized. Names, locations, health information, beliefs, or other personal details you include in shared Trigger, Matching, Description, or tag text may be sent to Google. Consider what you include in those fields before enabling cloud analysis.
Turning cloud analysis off
You can turn cloud analysis off in Settings. This stops new journal-analysis requests and attempts to cancel work in progress. It cannot recall information already transmitted. Previously saved analysis results remain on your device.
3. Google's processing and technical information
SyncPoint uses the Gemini Developer API through a billing-enabled Google Cloud project. Under Google's paid-service terms, Google does not use submitted prompts and responses to improve its products. Google still processes content for service delivery, safety, security, and applicable legal requirements. Technical and service-usage information is subject to Google's applicable terms and privacy policy. See the Gemini API terms.
Google's published abuse-monitoring policy currently describes retaining prompts, context, and responses for 55 days. Authorized Google personnel may review flagged content. Abuse-monitoring data may be used for models specifically supporting policy enforcement. This is not a promise of zero retention or zero human access. See Gemini abuse monitoring.
Firebase AI Logic and Firebase App Check also process technical information. This can include app, operating-system and SDK versions, device metadata, model names, IP addresses, request information, and app or device integrity tokens. These services support request delivery, service operation, and abuse prevention. App Check uses Google Play Integrity in the release app. Firebase initialization and integrity checks can operate even when journal cloud analysis is off. See Firebase's Android data disclosures.
SyncPoint calculates local insights on your device. Optional Gemini analysis runs on Google’s servers. Your journal and saved analysis results remain on your device until you remove them as described below. Google’s processing and retention of transmitted content are described above; cloud analysis does not provide zero retention.
Google may process information in countries where Google or its service providers operate. These may differ from your country. Google's applicable processing terms describe its safeguards and responsibilities. See Firebase privacy information and the Google Privacy Policy.
4. Exporting and importing entries
Export and import take place when you select a destination or source using Android's file picker.
An export is a readable JSON file containing journal information, including fields that are excluded from cloud analysis. SyncPoint does not password-protect or separately encrypt that export. Anyone with access to the file may be able to read it.
You control where you save, copy, share, and delete exports. If you choose a cloud-storage provider, that provider handles the file under its own terms. Deleting an entry or uninstalling SyncPoint does not delete exported copies. Imported entries become part of your local journal and may become eligible for analysis if you have enabled cloud analysis.
5. Advertising, sharing, and support
SyncPoint does not display advertising, include an advertising or behavioral-analytics SDK, or sell or rent your journal information. The current free release does not offer in-app purchases.
Information leaves the device through the disclosed Google services, exports or sharing you choose, or communications you send us. We may disclose information in our possession when legally required or necessary to address fraud, security incidents, or legal claims.
If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you provide. We use them to respond to your request and address support or privacy issues. Correspondence is handled through Gmail. Avoid attaching your journal unless it is necessary for your request.
6. Retention and deletion
Local information: Your journal and saved app information remain on your device until you remove them. You can edit or delete individual entries in My Entries, and change or clear your display name in Profile. Saved reports and reusable custom labels may remain independently of an individual entry.
To remove all locally stored SyncPoint information:
- Open your device's Settings and select Apps.
- Select SyncPoint, then Storage or Storage & cache.
- Tap Clear storage or Clear data and confirm. The labels may vary by device.
You can also uninstall SyncPoint. Clearing storage or uninstalling removes the app's local journal, settings, and saved results. Clear cache alone does not delete all app data. See Android's storage help.
We cannot retrieve or remotely erase journal information that exists only on your device. These steps do not erase exported files, emails, or information already processed by Google. Delete exported copies separately from any device, folder, or cloud-storage provider where you saved them.
Cloud information: Google's retention is described above and in its applicable terms. Turning off cloud analysis or deleting a local entry does not send a remote deletion request. SyncPoint does not currently provide an in-app tool to delete Google's processing logs.
Support correspondence: We retain support and privacy correspondence only as long as needed to handle the request, maintain necessary records, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations. You may request deletion by emailing us.
Request deletion of your data
You can request deletion of personal information held by the SyncPoint developer, including support emails and attachments. You do not need to create an account, keep the app installed, or enable cloud analysis to make a request.
- Email redgravityzeroghost@gmail.com with the subject SyncPoint data deletion request.
- State whether you want all personal information we hold about you deleted or only specific information, such as a support message or attachment.
- If possible, send the request from the email address you previously used to contact us. Include relevant message dates or a brief description so we can locate the records. If you no longer have access to that address, explain this in your request. Do not include passwords, identity documents, or a copy of your journal.
We may ask for the minimum additional information needed to verify the request and locate information we hold. We will assess the request, delete information within our control where applicable, and reply to explain the outcome, including any information we cannot delete and the reason. We will handle the request within any response period required by applicable law.
Some information may need to be retained to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, or address security incidents or legal claims. Where retention is necessary, we will explain what is retained, why, and the applicable retention period or criteria.
For information processed by Google, identify the service and approximate date of the interaction if known; do not resend the journal content. We will assess whether the information can be identified and work with the provider where applicable. We cannot guarantee that a specific request or processing log can be located or immediately erased. Google's retention practices described above continue to apply. An email request to us does not itself delete Google's logs or copies held by an export destination.
7. Security
SyncPoint uses Android's app-private storage for local information. Cloud requests use encrypted HTTPS connections. These protections do not make information end-to-end encrypted against Google, which must process the content sent for analysis. SyncPoint does not add a separate password or encryption layer to its local journal database or export files.
Protect your device with a screen lock and keep your device software current. No storage or transmission method can guarantee complete security.
8. Your choices and privacy rights
You can use local journaling without cloud analysis, withdraw cloud-analysis consent in Settings, edit or delete entries, export your journal, and remove local app data.
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information we hold, restrict or object to certain processing, withdraw consent, or complain to a data-protection authority. Contact us to exercise these rights. Withdrawing consent does not undo processing that already took place.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on your consent for optional journal cloud analysis, providing the service you request for app functionality, legitimate interests for necessary security and support, and legal obligations where required. Any additional requirements for sensitive information depend on the information and the law that applies.
9. Age audience
SyncPoint is intended for adults aged 18 and over. If you believe a person under 18 has provided personal information to us through SyncPoint, please contact us so we can assess and address it.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the app or its data practices change. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice or request consent where required.
